Pedestrian lucky to be alive after BMW M3 goes sideways into a petrol bowser

A BMW M3 driver is lucky to have only struck a petrol pump and not a pedestrian after losing control of his vehicle in Sydney.

Shocking footage has shown the exact moment a BMW M3 driver lost control of their vehicle and crashed into a petrol station, narrowly missing a pedestrian in the process.

Video uploaded to the r/CarsAustralia subreddit by user Icommentyourusername shows a BMW M3 travelling along Fairford Road in Padstow, New South Wales at what appears to be a high rate of speed on Friday, August 28, before it spins out and hurtles up the driveway of an Ampol petrol station.

A pedestrian standing on the footpath just by the driveway, with their back turned to the crashing M3, is knocked to the ground by a sign the BMW has hit. The BMW then hits the petrol bowser, which in turn hits an Isuzu D-Max parked on the opposite side.

News.com.au reports there were no injuries, even though the pedestrian was sprayed with debris.

The 33-year-old male driver was subjected to a roadside breath test, which returned a negative result. He was slapped with a traffic infringement notice for negligent driving, the penalty for which is a $577 fine and three demerit points.

The Reddit user shared further images of the aftermath of the crash, which show liquid leaking across the forecourt. Of course, this isn't a movie or video game, so there was no explosion. Nevertheless, this is a crash that could have been deadly had the pedestrian been standing just a metre away.
