Lexus Australia is recalling 14,301 examples of its GS, GS F, IS, RC, and RC F vehicles as the fuel tank vent tube assembly may crack and cause a fuel leak, which increases the risk of a vehicle fire.
This recall affects GS, GS F, IS, RC and RC F vehicles produced between January 2012 and August 2018.

“Due to the design of the flange, there is a possibility that a stress related crack could develop on the exterior surface of the flange,” said the company in its recall notice.
“The crack could expand over time and, depending on the size of the crack, could eventually allow fuel to leak from the crack.
“Depending on the amount of fuel that escapes from the crack, and if it is in the presence of an ignition source, this could increase the risk of a vehicle fire.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to book in an appointment to have the fuel tank vent tube assembly replaced, free of charge.
Lexus says that the job will take approximately two hours to complete, but this depends on the dealer’s work schedule.
If you have any questions you can call the Lexus Customer Assistance Centre from Monday to Friday at 8AM to 6PM AEDT on 1800 023 009.
