Mercedes-Benz C-Class recalled due to fire risk

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled seven examples of the C-Class as a manufacturing fault could lead to a vehicle fire.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, wiring harness earth connection bolts may not have been fastened with sufficient torque,” the carmaker said in its recall notice.

“This may increase the electrical resistance of the wiring harness and could result in a vehicle fire.

“A vehicle fire could increase the risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users and bystanders, and/or damage to property.”

If you own an affected C-Class, you’ll be contacted by Mercedes-Benz in writing.

You’ll need to schedule an appointment with your authorised Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out as soon as possible, free of charge.
