Zeekr, one of Chinese automotive giant Geely’s numerous brands, has officially revealed its high-performance electric vehicle (EV) that’s set to rival the likes of the Tesla Model S Plaid.

The Zeekr 001 FR is a limited-production, high-performance version of the company’s electric liftback. FR stands for Future Roads.

The company hasn’t detailed pricing yet, and only plans to deliver 99 units per month.

The Zeekr 001 FR has a rear-biased quad-electric motor setup with system outputs of 930kW of power and 1280Nm of torque. This makes it Geely’s most powerful mass-produced car yet.

Zeekr claims the 001 FR can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 2.07 seconds, excluding rollout. With rollout it’s claimed to do the 0-100km/h sprint in 2.36 seconds. Flat out you’ll be doing 280km/h.

For context, the Tesla Model S Plaid has 760kW of peak power and a 0-60mph (0-96km/h) time of just 1.99 seconds, excluding rollout.

The Zeekr 001 FR has an 100kWh Qilin battery pack from CATL with an 800V electric architecture. It’s claimed to be able to charge from 10 to 80 per cent in 15 minutes.

The car has a tank turn function similar to the likes of the BYD’s Yangwang U8 off-roader. When performing this function, Zeekr claims peak torque at the wheels is 10,000Nm.

The high-performance electric liftback has a number of carbon-fibre aerodynamic elements, including a front splitter, roof, side mirrors, rear wing, and racy diffuser. It’s claimed to be able to handle a maximum lateral force of 1.4G.

It rides on 22-inch forged aluminium wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero tyres.

Providing the stopping force are a set of 10-piston AP Racing calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. There are also Brembo carbon-ceramic brake discs.

Inside there’s an 8.8-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system. This runs the latest version of its Zeekr OS 5.0.

The 001 FR comes equipped with Navigation Zeekr Pilot (NZP) which is a driver assistance software dedicated to highway driving. The system is based on Mobileye’s SuperVision.

Zeekr is a brand with global aspirations, having recently entered the European market with the 001.

It’s only a young brand, having been founded in 2021. The 001 was initially previewed as a Lynk & Co concept before debuting as the first Zeekr-badged vehicle.

Unlike Lynk & Co, which offers more affordable petrol and hybrid models, Zeekr is an EV-only brand.

In addition to the 001, it also offers the small X SUV – also confirmed for Europe – and the 009 people mover.
