BMW unlocks Digital Key Plus connectivity for Samsung users

BMW Australia has launched Digital Key and Digital Key Plus functionality for Samsung users in Australia.

Samsung users with the My BMW app will now be able to unlock and lock as well as start the engine of their BMWs without needing a key thanks to ultra-wideband technology.

We’ve contacted BMW Australia to confirm which vehicles support the features. In Europe, only vehicles manufactured from November 2022 onwards, and fitted with BMW Comfort Access, support Digital Key and Digital Key Plus.

Customers who use the Digital Key Plus feature will be greeted with a unique light display on approach.

A previous update provided customers the ability to check tyre pressures, as well as synchronise their calendar. The latter allows for planned journey locations to be transferred directly to the vehicle’s navigation system.

The app will also show electric and plug-in vehicle charging history, including the status of the battery.

The My BMW app allows for iPhone and Android users to share access to their vehicle with five other users.

BMW introduced the functionality for Apple users in 2021, with vehicles produced from July 2020 compatible.

With the addition of Android integration, the luxury brand says Samsung users as of today will have access to Digital Key and Digital Key Plus within the My BMW app.
