BMW M reveals six Nürburgring 100th anniversary editions

BMW M is celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Nürburgring with a limited-edition range of high-performance models, all of which will be available to order in Australia.

Called the BMW M 100 Jahre Nürburgring, the special-edition lineup spans six M models: the M2, M3 Sedan, M3 Touring, M4 Coupé, M5 Sedan, and M5 Touring.

Local pricing, specifications and ordering details are yet to be confirmed, with BMW Australia set to provide further information closer to their arrival.

The anniversary edition pays tribute to the Nürburgring and, in particular, its infamous Nordschleife circuit, which BMW M uses extensively in the development and testing of its production performance cars.

“The Nürburgring is much more than just a racetrack for us. It is a second home for BMW M,” said BMW M CEO Frank van Meel.

“All our production vehicles are put through their paces on the Nordschleife. With the Edition 100 Jahre Nürburgring, we celebrate our longstanding and successful relationship with the Nürburgring.”

The most obvious visual change is the exclusive Nürburgring Green paint finish, which is appropriate given the circuit's Green Hell nickname, although buyers will also be able to specify the cars in Black Sapphire metallic.

Each model features a range of Nürburgring-inspired graphics and details, including the circuit's Nordschleife silhouette, a '100' anniversary logo and 'Nürburgring since 1927' lettering.

Depending on the model, graphics are applied to the front doors, C-pillars and rear side sections, while exclusive roof graphics feature BMW M stripes and other anniversary-specific details.

Green accents are also applied to the wheels and kidney grille surrounds, with the overall design combining light grey, green and black.

The M2 receives an M carbon roof, carbon bucket seats, and black Nordschleife embroidery on the front head restraints, alongside high-gloss black 930 M wheels.

The M3 Sedan and M4 Coupé instead roll on 826 M wheels with Nürburgring Green detailing, while the M3 Touring gets the same wheel treatment but retains its steel roof, rather than the carbon roof seen on the sedan.

The M5 Sedan and M5 Touring are fitted with 951 M wheels featuring green accents, while the sedan also gets an M carbon roof with the anniversary graphics, and the M5 Touring keeps its steel roof but adds the special-edition design.

Inside, the cars feature black Nordschleife embroidery on the front head restraints, in another nod to the infamous German road circuit.

BMW M is using the tagline 'Born on the Racetrack. Made for the Streets' for the special editions, highlighting the connection between its motorsport development work and its road-going performance cars.

BMW M has yet to confirm exactly how many examples of each model will be produced, or whether the Australian market will receive a fixed allocation.
