The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition celebrates the brand's roots by turning the Britishness up well past 11.

Mini's Australian arm has confirmed the limited-edition model will make its way Down Under, with 40 units confirmed for the long ship-ride to our shores.

All will be based on the Cooper S three-door hatch, with half of the allocation painted in Chili Red II and the other 20 finished in Indigo Sunset Blue.

The limited edition is named after the Oxford plant, which was opened in 1926 and came into BMW's hands after the German firm bought the Rover Group in 1994. The factory was originally the main plant for Morris, but later also produced the iconic Rover SD1 and the BMW-funded Rover 75.

As well as a variety of Honda-based models, including the Triumph Acclaim, and Rover 600 and 800, the factory also made the first-generation Honda Legend for a few years. Today it's the sole manufacturing location for the petrol-powered Cooper three- and five-door hatchbacks.

The EV versions of the Cooper ride on a different platform co-developed with GWM, and are made in China.

In a nod, wink and a glance to its heritage that's less subtle than Tim Brooke-Taylor's waistcoat, there's a Union Jack roof with the central red and white stripe of the flag extended to run along the bonnet and tailgate.

Other exterior changes include red, white and blue wheel hub covers, Union Jack valve caps, two-tone 18-inch Slide Spoke alloy wheels, white mirror caps, and a Union Jack and chequered flag badge on the boot.

If the outside doesn't have enough Union Jacks for you, hold on to your tweed jacket because there's even more to be found inside, with a textured version of the flag at 6 o'clock on the steering wheel, as well as Union Jack theming for the infotainment display and a Union Jack badge for the driver's side floor mat.

There's also a chequered flag motif for the front passenger's floor mat, and unique side sills with a strip of red, white and blue.

To complement the Oxford Edition, Mini has added an Oxford Capsule to its collection of lifestyle gear, although it's not clear whether it will be standard with the limited edition.

The capsule includes T-shirts, Mini Oxford stickers, a Mini umbrella walking stick, a special cap, and a Mini-branded traveller bag with, you guessed it, a Union Jack pattern on the inside lining.

The Mini Cooper Oxford Edition arrives in Australia during the fourth quarter of 2026. Pricing and full specifications will be announced closer to its on-sale date.

There will likely be a price premium over the standard three-door Cooper S, which starts at $55,850 before on-road costs. The Cooper S has a 150kW/300Nm 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine driving the front wheels through a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
