Suzuki has released details of the e Vitara – its first electric vehicle (EV) here and a rival to the Hyundai Kona Electric, Kia EV3 and BYD Atto 3 – ahead of its scheduled arrival in local showrooms in June 2026.
The Indian-made e Vitara sits on the ‘Heartect-e’ platform – which was co-developed with Toyota – and will be sold here in two model grades: the front-wheel drive e Vitara Motion and the all-wheel drive Ultra, with Suzuki Queensland offering two powertrains for the Ultra against Suzuki Australia’s one.
Pricing and full details are yet to be announced – with the e Vitara already on sale in the UK from £26,249 ($A50,424), similar in price to the Kona Electric and Kia EV3, which in Australia are offered from $47,600 and $54,000 before on-road costs, respectively.

Both model grades of the five-seat, five-door e Vitara measure 4275mm long, sit 1800mm wide and stand 1635mm tall on a 2700mm wheelbase (the space between the front and rear axles).
The entry-level Motion comes with a single 106kW/193Nm motor driving the front wheels and a 49kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery, with a claimed range of 344km (WLTP), while direct current (DC) rapid charging allows the vehicle to be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 45 minutes.
All models will use a heat pump as standard, which Suzuki says will help optimise battery performance.




The up-spec Ultra adds a second motor – meaning one on each axle – enabling all-wheel drive, with higher 135kW/307Nm outputs. Claimed range is 395km courtesy of a larger 61kWh LFP battery pack.
Suzuki Queensland, which distributes the brand in Northern New South Wales and Queensland, will offer a front-wheel version of the Ultra, teaming the larger 61kWh battery with the lower power motor, for a WLTP range of 426km.

In Europe, it wears a four-star rating from safety authority Euro NCAP. An ANCAP rating is not yet available.
“The e Vitara marks a defining moment for Suzuki, it’s our first battery electric vehicle and a clear signal of how we’re evolving as a brand, whilst remaining true to the values that have always defined Suzuki – efficiency, reliability and everyday usability,” said Suzuki Australia general manager, Michael Pachota, in a statement.
