The Kia EV4 arrives in local showrooms later this month, priced from $49,990 before on-road costs.
The mid-size electric sedan therefore has a base price between the entry-level BYD Seal Dynamic ($46,990 before on-roads) and the Tesla Model 3 RWD ($54,900 plus on-roads).
Unlike those rivals, the EV4 is available exclusively with front-wheel drive. However, Kia is offering it with a choice of two batteries and three trim levels.
It offers up to 612km of range with the larger of the two nickel manganese cobalt (NMC) battery packs.

The EV4 commands a ~$1300 premium over the equivalent EV3 small SUV, while offering more range thanks to its more aerodynamic sedan body style.
Australian EV4 Sedans come from South Korea. There’s an EV4 Hatch produced in Slovakia for the European market, but it has yet to be confirmed for our market. That includes the upcoming GT performance flagship revealed at this month’s Brussels motor show.
The 4730mm-long and 1860mm-wide EV4 Sedan is roughly the same size as the K4 Sedan, which is currently offered exclusively with combustion power. It’s also 10mm longer than the Tesla Model 3, while being 73mm narrower on a 55mm shorter wheelbase.
