The GWM Ora 5, the Chinese brand’s first electric SUV in Australia, will be priced from $33,990 drive-away when it lands in Australia.
It’ll arrive in Australian showrooms in June 2026, taking on rivals such as the BYD Atto 2 and Chery E5 electric SUVs.
The Ora 5 is the second model in GWM’s Ora electric vehicle (EV) lineup following the Ora hatch launched here in 2023, and brings increased passenger and cargo space but similarly curvaceous styling.
Two model grades will be offered, with the Lux priced at $33,990 and the Ultra adding more equipment – including upgraded audio, a panoramic glass roof and wireless phone charging – for an additional $3000.

Its $33,990 drive-away price undercuts the BYD Atto 2’s $31,990 before on-road costs starting price once on-roads are factored in, and sits well below the Chery E5 that’s priced at $36,990 before on-roads.
Larger dimensions see the Ora 5 measure 4471mm long, 1833mm wide and 1641mm tall on a 2720mm wheelbase – 70mm longer than the Ora hatch – while offering 362L of cargo space.
It also has 175mm of ground clearance on standard ‘four-leaf clover’ 18-inch alloy wheels, and is available in a range of exterior colours including turquoise and pink finishes.

Inside, the cabin is offered in black or cream depending on the exterior colour, with leatherette seats, a 14.6-inch centre touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster.
While available with a hybrid powertrain overseas, the Ora 5 will launch in Australia exclusively as an EV, with a 150kW/260Nm electric motor driving the front wheels and paired with a 58.3kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery.
Claimed driving range is 430km (WLTC), with DC fast-charging at up to 120kW and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability offering up to 6kW of discharge, allowing you to power small appliances.
