The cheapest vehicle from BYD's premium brand in Australia (for now) is the B5, a plug-in hybrid Toyota Prado rival.

The Denza B5, along with its B8 big brother, is aiming to shake up a rather staid large off-road SUV market.
While they feature body-on-frame construction like top-sellers such as the Toyota Prado, they come exclusively with plug-in hybrid power.
Denza is the premium export brand of Chinese giant BYD, which sells a mixture of vehicles sold under both the Denza and Fangchengbao brands in China.

Orders are now open for the B5 and B8, with customer deliveries of the former to begin from late in January 2026.
The B5, slightly smaller than a Toyota Prado and offering only five seats, is priced from $74,990 before on-road costs – $2490 more than a base Prado GX.
In top-spec Leopard trim, it costs $79,990 before on-roads. This up-spec variant not only adds more luxury equipment, it also features BYD’s DiSus-P adjustable hydraulic suspension. This allows the ride height and the level of stiffness to be adjusted.
The first 2000 B5 and B8 customers will receive a free premium paint upgrade and interior trim enhancement valued at $1818.

Both Denza B5 variants come with the same plug-in hybrid powertrain and a four-wheel drive system with electrically actuated front and rear differential locks.

They feature double-wishbone suspension front and rear, though only the flagship Leopard has DiSus-P adjustable hydraulic suspension.
The B5 features a vehicle-to-load (V2L) function, allowing you to power small appliances off the vehicle.
