Cupra Australia has given its best indication yet of when we can expect the hot Born VZelectric hatch to arrive Down Under.
Speaking to CarExpert, Cupra Australia head of product and marketing Jeff Shafer confirmed the 240kW/545Nm VZ is set to launch in the first half of 2025.
“We’re still working towards a 2025 introduction, probably in the second quarter,” Mr Shafer revealed.
“There’s still a lot of discussions on that to be had with headquarters.”

The Born VZ has a single-motor rear-wheel drive powertrain, and is capable of completing the 0-100km/h sprint in 5.7 seconds before hitting a top speed of 200km/h.
Standard versions of the Born currently sold in Australia have outputs of 170kW and 310Nm, and require 7.0 seconds to hit 100km/h.
Other changes under the skin of the VZ include a slightly larger 79kWh battery pack and a new DCC Sport chassis setup that includes revised dampers, anti-roll bars and rear springs.
External upgrades are limited to wider tyres and a choice of two 20-inch alloy wheel designs: either forged or with 3D copper inserts. Two new colours join the palette: Midnight Black and Dark Forest green.
Inside the cabin, the VZ is ready for the racetrack with bucket seats finished in recycled materials.

Drivers will have the option to choose from three levels of regenerative braking via paddles behind the steering wheel.
The tech has also been improved over the base car, with the fitting of an upsized 12.9-inch infotainment touchscreen that features Cupra’s latest operating system.
“We’re looking forward to that car,” said Mr Shafer.
“I think it’s a real driver’s car.”
