Interested in a Chevrolet Silverado?

The Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range has received some minor specification adjustments for model year 2024 (MY24) and a price rise to match.

Pricing is up by between $2500 and $5000, depending on the variant. The Silverado 1500 range now opens at $130,500 before on-roads for the LTZ Premium, and extends to $138,000 before on-roads for the ZR2.

The specification changes, as previously detailed, include a new dual active sports exhaust across the entire range. It’s enabled when the Sport or Off-Road modes are activated.

Other changes include more standard equipment for the off-road-oriented ZR2 flagship to bring it in line with the luxurious LTZ Premium. It now receives the following as standard:

    • Rear camera mirror
    • 15-inch head-up display
    • Power tilt and telescoping steering column
    • Adaptive cruise control
    • Seven-speaker Bose premium sound system

Lastly, some new exterior paint colour options have been added for MY24. Lakeshore Blue metallic is now available, along with Slate Grey for the ZR2 variant only.

The Australian-market Chevrolet Silverado 1500 continues to be imported by General Motors Speciality Vehicles (GMSV) and converted from left- to right-hand drive by Walkinshaw in Melbourne.

Until the end of March this year, GMSV has sold a total of 548 Silverado 1500s. It was outsold by the Ram 1500 (886 sales), and the Ford F-150 (616 sales).

    Powertrain

For 2024, the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 range continues to be powered exclusively by a 6.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 engine producing 313kW of power and 624Nm of torque.

Both variants have a 10-speed automatic transmission which sends drive through a full-time four-wheel drive system which has 2H, 4A, 4H, and 4L modes. 4A allows owners to drive with four-wheel drive traction on sealed surfaces.

The LTZ Premium has an auto-locking rear differential, whereas the ZR2 has full-locking front and rear differentials. The latter also picks up an enhanced two-speed transfer case with a ZR2 Off-Road mode, Crawl Mode, as well as enhanced traction software.

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTZ Premium has a claimed combined fuel economy figure of 12.9 litres per 100km, whereas the ZR2 has a claimed combined fuel economy figure of 14.5 litres per 100km.

Both variants have an engine idle stop-start system, have a 91-litre fuel tank, and require a minimum of 91 RON regular unleaded petrol.
