Interested in an MG ZS EV?

After expanding the ZS EV line-up last year with the Long Range, MG has updated the pricing of its electric SUV.

UPDATE, 20/07/2023 –  MG has amended pricing to include statewide drive-away pricing for all models. We’ve updated this article and brought it forward.

State-based drive-away pricing has changed for both the Excite and Essence models, however the Long Range pricing remains the same.

ZS EV pricing has been adjusted for Excite and Essence models depending on your state, with the base Excite seeing price cuts around the $1000 mark depending where you live as MG gears up to phase it out.

MG is introducing the new MG 4 hatchback as its most affordable electric vehicle in Australia.

The Excite currently opens the range at $42,990 before on-road costs, undercutting the rival BYD Atto 3, while the flagship Long Range is priced at $55,990 before on-road costs.

Introduced last year was a new software architecture called iSmart, and owners can use the associated smartphone app to, for example, remotely control the locks and air-conditioning. App connectivity is complementary for one year.

The Australian-market ZS EV misses out on over-the-air updates, Amazon Music streaming, and live weather and traffic updates.

“While our future product offering may have over-the-air updates, our current telematics box in the new ZS EV does not carry this feature,” said a spokesperson for MG Motor Australia previously said.

“It is a method of monitoring and supporting the web-based applications such as the vehicle’s state of charge and not for vehicle updating (over the air updates).”

“Our seven-year warranty is comprehensive across both ICE, electric and batteries with no hidden exclusions,” said MG Motor Australia and New Zealand CEO Peter Ciao, which could be interpreted as a dig at rival BYD.

“All of our 83 dealerships in Australian are trained to sell and service all our products and our customers appreciate this level of service and offering.”

MG is also offering home AC chargers, with its 7kW Chargehub costing $1990 and its 11kW unit costing $2090. Both prices exclude fitment costs.
