The Audi e-tron sportback electric SUV is almost due for an update.

The 2023 model was snapped testing with revised detailing in its lights and bumpers, signalling a mid-life refresh is on the horizon.

The wagon-bodied e-tron debuted in 2018, while the e-tron sportback and its sportier, coupe-like look followed in 2020.

Our spy photos reveal not too much should change when the mid-life update arrives. The car pictured here has what looks like a new grille insert, and camouflage tape over the detailing on the lower front bumper.

Audi has revealed its new e-tron GT four-door coupe flagship, and it’s likely some of the styling details from that car will make the trip to the e-tron sportback SUV.

It’s also possible the Matrix LED light technology from the new RS3, which allows owners to tweak the detailing in the corners of the lights, could feature on the new e-tron.

Down back, the LED tail light units are taped over, which suggests changes to the LED light signature are likely.

Eagle-eyed readers will also notice this e-tron wears the optional camera-based side mirrors, which project a live feed of what’s in the blind-spot to a pair of screens in the doors.

It’s not clear is Audi will make any changes to the e-tron 50 and 55 quattro powertrains.

The base e-tron 50 quattro produces 230kW of power and 540Nm of torque, good for a claimed 6.8-second sprint to 100km/h. It’s mated with a 71kWh battery pack.

The 55 quattro packs 300kW of power and 664Nm of torque, dropping the 100km/h sprint time to just 5.7 seconds. A 95kWh battery is standard.

Pricing in Australia currently kicks off at $148,700 before on-road costs for the e-tron 50 quattro, putting it directly head-to-head with the Mercedes-Benz EQC, and stretches to $157,700 before on-roads for the 55 quattro.
