Interested in a Ssangyong Rexton?

The oft-overlooked SsangYong Rexton gets that special edition cliché for 2022: a Black Edition.

Available in either Space Black or Pearl White, the limited edition is based on the range-topping Ultimate and features more cosmetic tweaks than some blacked-out special editions.

In addition to the expected black-finish alloy wheels – measuring 20 inches – there are also black painted roof rails, a gloss-black grille, and unique LED fog lights.

UPDATE, 20/04/2022 3:27pm – SsangYong has provided a single image of the local-spec Black Edition. We’ve updated the article accordingly.

Unusually for a car in 2022, the Rexton hasn’t received a price increase. The range still opens at $47,990 drive-away as it did last year, after the old petrol-powered, rear-wheel drive EX base trim was axed.

The Black Edition slots in atop the range at $56,585 drive-away.

The Ultimate has lost its unique 20-inch alloy wheels, and instead reverts to the ELX’s 18s.

Metallic paint is up by $100 to $595 on the ELX and Ultimate, though it’s standard on the Black Edition. Otherwise, the Rexton range is unchanged.

We’ve called the Rexton one of Australia’s best cars nobody’s buying, and it continues to be overlooked by most large SUV buyers.

It boasts a braked towing capacity of 3500kg like an Isuzu MU-X, but is rather unusual in this segment in coming with independent multi-link rear suspension.

It also features an auto-locking rear differential.
