BYD’s Denza expands network amid regional Australia push

Denza is extending its service network to cater for owners in regional areas, as it leans on BYD's expanding spare parts infrastructure.

Denza’s dealer network may be primarily focused on large metropolitan areas in Australia, but the BYD-owned premium brand is adding service locations to serve owners in regional areas.

Over the coming months, it’s adding 17 authorised service points, all at BYD dealerships. These comprise:

    • New South Wales: Orange, Dubbo, Tamworth, Nowra
    • Northern Territory: Darwin
    • Queensland: Mackay, Bundaberg, Rockhampton
    • South Australia: Mount Gambier
    • Victoria: Wodonga, Bendigo, Ballarat, Traralgon, Warrnambool
    • Western Australia: Geraldton, Bunbury, Albany

Denza says that, depending on the location, these new service locations may be able to perform scheduled servicing, general mechanical repairs, warranty diagnoses and repairs, and other diagnostic and technical work including software upgrades.

The brand says it’ll retain technical oversight of customer cases to ensure work is completed to its factory standard, and should a service point not be able to complete work it’ll “determine the appropriate repair pathway on a case-by-case basis”.

The new authorised service outlets join 18 dedicated Denza sites nationwide, with further expansion of the sales and service network due during 2027.

In contrast, BYD has over 120 retail locations in Australia, and is set to reach 146 by December 2026; it’s also opening a 25,000m2 ‘super delivery and service centre’ at Port Melbourne in early 2027.

“Australia is a vast country and we want our customers to explore it far and wide. The introduction of authorised servicing points gives Denza customers the confidence to travel further, knowing there is an increasingly strong support network behind them,” said Denza Australia chief operating officer Mark Harland in a press release.

Denza vehicles may be sold through different showrooms than sister brand BYD, but the premium marque is able to leverage BYD Australia’s national parts and logistics network.

The company says this allows most parts orders to be fulfilled within 24 hours from distribution centres in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Perth.

BYD says it has around 95 per cent of its spare parts at the ready, with over 580,000 components held locally and over $25 million worth of stock in hand at any one time.

It operates the largest of its four parts and distribution centres in Melbourne’s outer west with SF Express, the world's fourth largest logistics company, accounting for 15,000m2 of the company’s complex.

BYD says it can deliver parts to local dealers within 24 hours, most interstate dealers in two to three days, and dealers in outer rural areas within around a week.

The company has had to dramatically increase the amount of parts in stock as it has significantly expanded the number of models it offers here, including by introducing the Denza brand, and dramatically increased the size of its Australian car parc.

From its commencement of customer deliveries early this year to the end of September, Denza has delivered 3339 vehicles – almost all being large B5 (1872) and B8 (1325) off-road SUVs. The D9 people mover, which arrived slightly later, is a much lower-volume player with just 142 reaching customers.

The Denza lineup will expand in 2027 with the (delayed) launch of the Z9 GT electric shooting brake in the first half of the year, while Denza has also obtained Australian Design Rule (ADR) certification for the N9, which should offer a more car-like alternative to the rugged B5 and B8. Local launch timing has yet to be announced for this full-size crossover SUV.
