Interested in a Skoda Karoq?

Pricing and specifications for the facelifted Skoda Karoq range have been announced, ahead of first deliveries in July.

Skoda says both grades of Karoq offer over $4000 of extra standard equipment compared to the outgoing line-up, however prices are also up by $3000 for both models – you can’t get a Karoq for under $40,000 drive-away anymore.

The range once again consists of the entry-level Karoq Style and the top-spec Karoq Sportline, with their respective 110kW 1.4 TSI FWD and 140kW 2.0 TSI AWD drivetrains also carrying over for the 2023 model-year.

Pricing starts at $42,990 drive-away for the updated Karoq Style, and $49,990 drive-away for the Karoq Sportline 4×4.

Key upgrades include LED headlights for the base model and Matrix LED units for the flagship Sportline, a gesture-operated power tailgate as standard, DAB digital radio, wireless smartphone charging, and LED rear dynamic indicators.

    • 2022 Skoda Karoq Sportline 4×4: $49,990

    Prices are drive-away

    Engines

Powertrains for the updated Karoq line-up are carried over from the pre-facelift range.

The Karoq Style is powered by a 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine developing 110kW and 250Nm, sent to the front wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Meanwhile, the Karoq Sportline 4×4 gets a larger 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol making 140kW and 320Nm. The high-spec engine also features a petrol particulate filter (PPF), designed to catch the worst, most harmful particles in the car’s exhaust and burn them off at high temperatures to prevent them being emitted into the atmosphere.

Drive in the flagship is sent to all four wheels via a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic. Skoda claims the Sportline can accelerate from 0-100 in 7.3 seconds.

    Fuel economy

The Karoq Style 1.4 TSI uses 6.6L/100km on the combined cycle, while the Karoq Sportline 2.0 TSI 4×4 uses 6.9L/100km.

They require 95 RON premium unleaded fuel.

    Dimensions

Skoda hasn’t detailed any dimensional changes for the enhanced Karoq range.

The Karoq measures up at 4382mm long1603mm tall and 1841mm wide, with a 2638mm wheelbase.

In Style guise, the Karoq offers 479L of cargo capacity, which opens up to 1605L with the base model’s trick VarioFlex rear seats, which can slide and tumble to offer a van-like loading area.

    Servicing and Warranty

The Karoq is covered by Skoda’s five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Scheduled maintenance for both engine variants is required every 12 months or 15,000 kilometres, whichever comes first.

Buyers can pre-pay for service packages covering up to seven years, which are fully transferrable. The seven-year package is advertised for $2400, including the first three services for ‘free’, and roadside assistance for the duration of the program.

    Safety

The Skoda Karoq wears a five-star ANCAP safety rating based on Euro NCAP tests conducted in 2017.

All variants are covered by this rating, based on category scores of 93 per cent for adult occupant protection, 79 per cent for child occupant protection, 73 per cent for pedestrian protection, and 58 per cent for safety assist.
