Interested in a Porsche Taycan?

Porsche has expanded its all-electric Taycan range, just months after its arrival on Australian shores.

From early in 2022, the starting point in the electric coupe range will be a rear-wheel drive model simply badged Taycan, which cuts back on the power but maintains similar range to the current entry-level Taycan 4S.

The new rear-drive model drops the price of entry to the Taycan club from $191,000 before on-road costs to $156,300 before on-roads.

Prices have risen across the range by between $3700 and $7800 for 2022, although the increases are backed by more extra equipment – more information below.

    Pricing

    • 2022 Porsche Taycan: $156,300
    • 2022 Porsche Taycan 4S: $194,700 (+$3700)
    • 2022 Porsche Taycan Turbo: $276,300 (+$7200)

    Motors

There are four powertrains offered in the Taycan range.

The new entry-level, rear-wheel drive model is powered by a single motor on the rear axle making 300kW of power and 345Nm of torque.

As standard it’s paired with a 79.2kWh battery pack good for 369km of range, but buyers can opt for a Performance Battery Plus (93.4kWh) which ups range to 434km.

Selecting the bigger battery ups power to 350kW and torque to 357Nm. Regardless of battery pack, the entry-level Taycan sprints to 100km/h in 5.4 seconds.

The previous base model, the Taycan 4S, has 390kW and 640Nm, good for a 100km/h sprint time of 4.0 seconds.

79.2kWh lithium-ion battery pack is standard, but buyers can option the 93.4kWh Performance Battery Plus.

Opting for the bigger battery ups outputs to 420kW and 650Nm, and improves range from 365km to a claimed 414km.

Moving to the Taycan Turbo gets you 500kW and 850Nm for a 3.2-second sprint to 100km/h. The bigger battery is standard, and offers a claimed range of 420km.

Finally, the range-topping Taycan Turbo S makes 560kW and 1050Nm. It’ll hit 100km/h in just 2.8 seconds from standstill, and claimed range is 405km.

    Dimensions

The 2022 Porsche Taycan measures 4963mm long2144mm wide, and between 1378mm and 1381mm tall depending on model. It has a 2900mm wheelbase.
