It’s almost time for another new Ferrari.
The 2022 Ferrari Icona has been snapped under heavy camouflage outside the Ferrari factory in Maranello, ahead of what could be a November reveal.
The Icona is a bit of a mystery at the moment. It’s expected to share its bones with the drop-top LaFerrari, and feature styling inspired by the legendary 330 P4 racer from the 1960s.
Power could come from a naturally-aspirated V12 engine, rather than a plug-in hybrid powertrain like that of the SF90 Stradale or 296 GTB.
If it’s the 812 Competizione’s engine, expect more than 610kW of power and 692Nm of torque being sent to the rear wheels.
It’s likely the Icona will follow in the footsteps of the SP1 and SP2 with ultra-low build numbers, and a price well into the seven-figure range.
Ferrari doesn’t hold back with the styling of its specials, so expect the Icona to be more dramatic than the 296 GTB or SF90.
These images suggest it’ll wear a broad rear wing, and have a classic wedge shape. There are central exhaust outlets, and what look like high-mounted LED rear lights.
Like most high-end specials in 2021, the Icona is likely to be offered only to the most devout Ferrari customers. Stay tuned for more details approaching the car’s reveal in November.
