Interested in a Cupra Ateca?

Cupra has priced the trio of vehicles it’s launching with in July, including the Ateca crossover.

The Spanish brand expects the sleeker Formentor to be its best seller, and is offering it with a wider range of variants.

The more upright Ateca, in contrast, is being offered in just a single variant, called VZx. It packs a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine with 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

    The Ateca’s price tag – $60,990 before on-roads, $65,990 drive-away – puts it just below the range-topping Formentor VZx, which rings up at $61,490 before on-roads or $66,490 drive-away.

The Formentor VZx packs an extra 7kW of power, but only the Ateca VZx offers the option of an Akrapovic exhaust.

The Ateca was Cupra’s first model as a standalone brand, with the Spanish marque previously a trim level on certain Seat models.

It was launched in 2018, two years after the launch of the Seat Ateca it’s based on. That makes it the oldest member of the Cupra line-up.
