The first batch of Land Rover Defenders has barely touched down in Australia, but the flagship off-roader already being updated.

A trio of inline six-cylinder Ingenium diesel engines has replaced the four-cylinder diesels offered at launch, with three different outputs:

    • Defender D200: 147kW of power, 500Nm of torque
    • Defender D250: 183kW of power, 570Nm of torque
    • Defender D300: 220kW of power, 650Nm of torque

The base D200 will be reserved for the smaller Defender 90, the five-door Defender 110 range will kick off with the more powerful D250.

Also new for 2021 is the entry-level P300 petrol engine. The four-cylinder engine has 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque, backed by a 48V mild-hybrid system.

Land Rover has expanded the range of active safety features standard across the 90 and 110 line-ups, adding blind-spot monitoring, adaptive cruise control, rear collision monitor and rear cross-traffic alert, and a clear exit monitor.

Also expanded for 2021 is the list of options available. Four new colours have been added to the palette, and buyers can tick boxes for a folding fabric roof on the Defender 110, a 3D surround-view camera, premium LED headlights, a Meridian sound system, a head-up display, and fog lights.

A new X-Dynamic package has been added to the options list as well, priced at $7500. It’s designed to bring design and interior cues from the roughest, toughest Defender X into the regular line-up. The package includes:

    • Satin-finished bash plates
    • Satin black recovery hooks
    • Black alloy wheels
    • Black mirror caps
    • Illuminated metal interior tread plates
    • Two-tone seats trimmed in ‘Robustek’
