The 2020 Kia Sorento range starts at $43,490 before on-road costs for the Si V6, topping out at $59,490 before on-road costs for the GT-Line diesel. Kia regularly offers drive-away deals, however.
This is the third generation of Kia’s large SUV, first introduced in Australia in 2003 as a rugged, ladder-frame SUV before evolving to today’s car-based rival for the Hyundai Santa Fe and Mazda CX-9.
A new generation has already been revealed, and will arrive later this year.

Engines
The 2020 Kia Sorento range comes with a choice of two engines, both available across all five trim levels.
All front-wheel drive Sorento models use a 3.5-litre petrol V6 producing 206kW and 336Nm while all-wheel drive is available only with a 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder producing 147kW and 441Nm.
All variants use an eight-speed automatic transmission.
Fuel Economy
The 2020 Kia Sorento, when equipped with the standard 3.5-litre V6, consumes 10L/100km on the combined cycle. It needs only 91RON regular unleaded fuel and can run on E10.
The optional 2.2-litre turbo-diesel four uses 7.2L/100km on the combined cycle.
Dimensions
The 2020 Kia Sorento measures 4800mm long, 1690mm tall (including the roof rails) and 1890mm wide.
The Sorento’s total luggage space is 142L with three rows of seating in place. With the third row folded, cargo volume increases to 605L and further increases to 1662L with the second row folded.
Safety
When the Kia Sorento was tested by ANCAP in 2017, it received a rating of five stars.
That rating was based on a frontal offset score of 15.62 out of 16 and a side impact score of 16 out of 16. Whiplash and pedestrian protection were rated Good and Acceptable, respectively.
All 2020 Kia Sorento models come standard with autonomous emergency braking with forward-collision warning.
They also come standard with lane-keeping assist, anti-lock brakes and front and front-side airbags. The first two rows feature curtain airbags.
Only the range-topping Sorento GT-Line features blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.

Servicing
All 2020 Kia Sorento models require servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first.
Kia offers seven years of capped-price servicing in addition to its seven-year, unlimited kilometre warranty. Kia Sorento models with the V6 have an average cost per service of $440 while diesel Sorentos have an average service cost of $497.
