The 2020 Jeep Cherokee is available in four trim levels and with two different engines, with prices ranging from $37,950 before on-road costs for the base Sport to $52,650 before on-road costs for the S-Limited.
The Cherokee is unique in the mid-size SUV segment in offering both an available V6 engine and a dedicated off-road trim level. It’s also one of the larger offerings in this segment.

The 2020 Jeep Cherokee Sport comes with a naturally-aspirated 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine powering the front wheels only.
It produces 130kW and 229Nm and is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission. Jeep claims a 0-100km/h time of 9.6 seconds.
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee Limited and S-Limited both use a naturally-aspirated 3.2-litre V6 engine producing 200kW and 315Nm.
It’s also mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission, but both models use Jeep’s Active Drive I all-wheel drive system. 0-100km/h is achieved in a claimed 7.5 seconds.
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk uses the same engine and transmission but features Jeep’s Active Drive four-wheel drive system, featuring a locking rear differential and two-speed transfer case.
The Trailhawk can do the 0-100km/h dash in 8.5 seconds.
Both the 2.4-litre and 3.2-litre engines incorporate stop/start technology.
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee consumes 8.5L/100km on the combined cycle in FWD Sport guise, 9.8L/100km in AWD Limited and S-Limited trims, and 10.2L/100km in the 4WD Trailhawk.
All Cherokee models run on 91RON regular unleaded fuel.
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee measures 4651mm long and 1859mm wide. It’s 1680mm tall in Sport trim and 1683mm tall as a Limited or S-Limited.
The 2020 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk measures 4645mm long, 1904mm wide and 1724mm tall.
When the Jeep Cherokee was tested by ANCAP in 2016, it received a rating of five stars.
That rating was based on a frontal offset score of 15.16 out of 16 and a side impact score of 16 out of 16. Whiplash and pedestrian protection were rated Good and Acceptable, respectively.
All 2020 Jeep Cherokee models come standard with autonomous emergency braking with forward-collision warning, as well as lane-keeping assist, lane-departure warning, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert.
All models also feature front, front-side and curtain airbags, as well as a driver’s knee airbag.

The 2020 Jeep Cherokee requires servicing every 12 months or 12,000km, whichever comes first.
In addition to a five-year, 100,000km warranty, Jeep offers five years of capped-price servicing. Each service costs $399.
