The Ford EcoSport was a compact SUV that gave Ford an early entry in Australia's light-SUV market. Based on global small-car underpinnings, it focused on high seating, short urban dimensions and affordable running costs at a time when city SUVs were becoming mainstream. It is no longer sold new in Australia, with Ford's local SUV focus now centred on larger and more capable models such as the Everest, along with electric and performance nameplates. Existing EcoSport examples appeal mainly to buyers wanting a simple, easy-to-park small SUV with Ford familiarity. Its age shows in refinement and technology, but its compact footprint and practical hatchback-style layout remain useful for city driving.
