The Alpine A110 is a lightweight two-seat sports coupe that revived one of France's most famous performance badges. It uses an aluminium body and chassis, a mid-mounted 1.8-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine, a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic and rear-wheel drive, giving it a very different feel from heavier, higher-powered sports cars. The A110 is no longer on sale as a new car in Australia, after being withdrawn locally due to side-impact compliance requirements. Its appeal remains clear: low weight, compact dimensions, delicate steering and a playful chassis that reward precision over outright muscle. With Alpine now preparing a broader electric-era return, the A110 stands as the modern petrol sports car that reintroduced the brand to Australia.
