2023 Abarth 124
The Abarth 124 Spider is a discontinued two-seat roadster that blended Mazda MX-5 fundamentals with Italian styling and Abarth turbocharged performance. Sold in Australia from late 2016, it was offered locally only in Abarth form, using a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 125kW and 250Nm, with rear-wheel drive and manual or automatic transmissions. It is no longer on sale as a new car in Australia. As a used-car option, the 124 combines lightweight handling with more low-down torque than the naturally aspirated MX-5. Its unique front and rear styling, compact proportions and open-top layout give it a character of its own, while the shared Mazda platform provides a familiar basis for ride, handling and cabin packaging.
