The Toyota Fortuner is a seven-seat SUV based on HiLux underpinnings, aimed at buyers who need off-road ability, towing capacity and family space in one rugged package. It uses a separate-chassis layout and turbo-diesel power, giving it tougher credentials than most road-focused SUVs. In Australia it appeals to families who tow, travel or regularly leave sealed roads, while still needing three rows for school and weekend duties. The Fortuner is not as refined or spacious as a Kluger, but it has a more adventure-focused personality and stronger rough-road durability. Its strengths are reliability, diesel efficiency, genuine four-wheel drive capability and Toyota's extensive support network.
