Ross purchased this GWM Tank 300 new, calling this car an underrated gem, with far more technology and personality than his previous Toyota.

Yes.
Drove around Australia with this car soon after purchasing it new.
Starting with 6000km on the clock, the 4WD completed more than 23,000 km in three months of driving.
This Tank was faultless throughout the trip, despite having been driven on some challenging dirt roads in the Oodnadatta, Pilbara and Kimberley regions.

Very comfortable with ventilated seats and easy to drive, with a great cruise control and several pre-programmed driving modes. No new rattles or squeaks by the end of the trip.

This car is an underrated gem, with far more technology and personality than my previous Toyota FJ Cruiser.
The car feels strong and capable off-road. The dealer network is already numerous and widespread, a great feat given the newish nature of the GWM brand in Australia (2007?).

The GWM Tank 300 stands out as a compelling off-road SUV due to its exceptional value, rugged capability, and well-rounded features.
It offers serious off-road performance with a body-on-frame chassis, locking differentials, a dual-range transfer case, and impressive ground clearance and approach/departure angles (33°/34°).
It delivers strong value for money, starting at $46,190 for the Lux Diesel, significantly undercutting competitors while offering premium features like a 360-degree camera, heated/ventilated seats, and a high-resolution infotainment system.

The interior, while not luxury-class, feels solid and modern, with a design reminiscent of the Jeep Wrangler but with improved practicality and tech, including wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
A seven-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty adds peace of mind, especially for a relatively new brand in the Australian market.
My only criticisms concern throttle response issues and an intrusive ADAS system (like so many other modern cars, apparently).
Nonetheless, I love it. If I were Toyota, Nissan or Mitsubishi, I would be very worried.
