US electric vehicle (EV) giant Tesla is planning on building its largest Supercharger station yet, which will be located in rural California.
In a post uploaded to X – formerly known as Twitter – user MarcoRP uncovered a development application filed by Tesla in California, detailing its plans for a new Supercharger station in arid Lost Hills, approximately 2.5 hours north of Los Angeles.
Documents show there will be approximately 164 charging stalls, all covered by solar panels.
At present, the location with the most Tesla Superchargers is located in Coalinga, California, which has 98 individual charging stalls.
It’s understood the Lost Hills station will exclusively use Tesla’s latest V4 Superchargers, capable of charging at up to 250kW.
The V4 Superchargers only began to roll out in Australia in late 2023, when a new station in Albury, New South Wales opened – also boasting the title of our country’s largest Supercharger location with 16 chargers.

At present, there are 84 Tesla Supercharger stations in Australia, with 37 of these open to non-Tesla electric vehicles (EVs) – providing they are equipped with the suitable CCS charging port.
