Rejoice Nissan nerds! We’ve just found your new favourite tool to go back in time and relive the day your favourite model launched.
Nissan says it has “greatly expanded” its archive of news releases on the global newsroom website for media, which launched in 1999.
The Japanese carmaker has scanned and digitised all its existing pre-1999 releases and made them available on the newsroom as PDFs of the original print versions.

Japanese releases date back to 1961, which was when Nissan’s communication department was established, whereas English versions date back to 1963.
In the future Nissan plans to “further enrich information” on its newsroom website with the addition of photos from its collection, including those used at the time of the news release and related shots of vehicles.
Want to see a scanned press release and original press photo from when the original 1989 300ZX launched? You got it.

Or want to see the press release from 1968 when Nissan started assembling the Datsun 1000 and 1600 at the Volkswagen Australasia plant in Clayton, Victoria? You’re absolutely covered.
Nissan said this online archive is a “valuable resource to learn about the company’s initiatives and innovations to date”.
The Japanese carmaker isn’t the first to upload its archive material, as Ford recently published a searchable database called the Heritage Vault.

This Ford Heritage Vault is packed with more than 5000 curated photos and brochures spanning the company’s founding in 1903 to its centennial in 2003.
Have a play around with Nissan’s archived new releases and let us know in the comments what you found.
