Multiple Mercedes-Benz vehicles recalled for fire risk

Mercedes-Benz Australia has recalled 1983 vehicles across eight model lines due to a manufacturing fault that could result in a vehicle fire.

Affected vehicles include Mercedes-Benz C-Class, E-Class, S-Class, SL, CLE, EQE, EQS and AMG GTs models built between 2023 and 2024.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, vehicle management systems connected to the fuse box may fail. If this occurs, it may lead to a sudden loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire,” the manufacturer said in its recall notice.

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving and/or a vehicle fire could increase the potential risk of an accident, causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.”

If you own an affected Mercedes-Benz model, you can contact your preferred authorised dealer to have the vehicle’s fuse box replaced, free of charge.
