Mercedes-Benz Australia is recalling 2019-23 GLE and GLS models as they could lose power unexpectedly.
“Due to a software issue in the transmission control module, the transmission may not downshift under certain conditions and could result in a sudden loss of engine power,” the company says in its recall notice.
“A sudden loss of engine power increases the risk of an accident and injury or death to vehicle occupants or other road users.”

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact a Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the transmission software updated as soon as possible, free of charge.
If you have any further questions, you can contact the Mercedes-Benz Customer Assistance Centre on 1300 762 718.
