Mercedes-AMG Australia is recalling 82 examples of its 2022-2023 SL 63 due to an issue with the 12 Volt alternator wiring harness which may cause loss of power and/or a vehicle fire.
“Due to a manufacturing defect the 12 Volt alternator wiring harness may come in contact with the transmission drive shaft. As a result, the wiring harness could become damaged causing an electrical short circuit which may lead to a loss of motive power and/or a vehicle fire,” the company says in its recall notice.
“A loss of motive power or a vehicle fire could increase the risk an accident causing serious injury or death to vehicle occupants, other road users, bystanders and/or damage to property.”

Customers of affected vehicles should contact their local Mercedes-Benz dealership to have the work carried out, free of charge.
