Kia EV6 earns five-star ANCAP safety rating

The Kia EV6 has earned a five-star safety rating from independent crash test body ANCAP, matching its Hyundai Ioniq 5 platform mate.

The EV6 scored 90 per cent for adult occupant protection, 87 per cent for child occupant protection, 64 per cent for vulnerable road user protection, and 88 per cent for safety assist.

ANCAP’s rating applies to all three versions of the EV6 sold in Australia.

“The Kia EV6 is equipped with the range of collision avoidance systems we’ve come to expect in today’s five star cars, and it performed particularly well for its ability to prevent collisions with cyclists, and oncoming vehicles in avoidance tests simulating intersection turns,” said ANCAP CEO, Carla Hoorweg.

It joins a long list of electric cars to have earned five-star ratings, including but not limited to the Ioniq 5, BMW iX, andMG ZS EV.

The EV6 comes standard with a full suite of safety features, led by eight airbags – including a front centre airbag, designed to prevent occupants’ limbs colliding in a side-impact collision.
