The 2017-23 Jeep Compass has been recalled due to an issue with its towing capacity labels.

“The towing capacity labels found on the driver’s side door and tow bar do not match the approved homologation certificate or owners manual,” the company says in its recall notice.

“If the driver attempts to tow a load higher than the approved maximum, this could result in a serious accident to the vehicle occupants or other road users that can lead to severe injury or death.”

    • A total of 443 vehicles are affected
    • The VIN lists are attached here and here
    • The original recall notice is attached here

If you own an affected vehicle, you’ll need to contact your nearest Chrysler Jeep Dodge dealer to have the fix carried out, free of charge.

The dealer will remove the non-compliant labels and affix new, correct ones.
