Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 recalled

Hyundai Australia has recalled 118 examples of the Ioniq 5 and Ioniq 6 as a driveshaft fault could cause them to lose power.

“Due to a manufacturing defect, the driveshaft may break under load. If this occurs, it may lead to a sudden loss of motive power,” Hyundai said in its recall notice.

“A sudden loss of motive power whilst driving could increase the risk of an accident, causing injury or death to the vehicle occupants and/or other road users.”

If you own an affected Ioniq 5 or Ioniq 6, you’ll need to contact your preferred Hyundai dealer to schedule an appointment to have the driveshaft replaced, free of charge.
