Ferrari BR20: GTC4Lusso-based one-off revealed

Ferrari has ripped the rear seats from the GTC4Lusso to create its latest one-off, a V12 grand tourer dubbed the BR20.

Ferrari is taking a trip back to the 1950s and ’60s with its latest one-off.

The Ferrari BR20 is based on the now-defunct GTC4Lusso, and has been inspired by the 410 SA and 500 Superfast.

The front end has smaller, shorter headlights than the GTC4, along with a grille dominated by horizontal strakes, while the rear end is home to a set of distinctive buttresses.

Ferrari says they’ve been inspired by those of the 599 GTB Fiorano, and there’s no doubt they create a more classic profile than the standard GTC4 and its almost hatch-like rear. Although it’s clearly derived from the GTC4, the BR20 is actually 76mm longer than its donor car.

There are quad tail lights and twin pipes, along with a redesigned rear bumper. Keen-eyed readers will also notice the wheels are unique to this car. They measure 20 inches, and feature a diamond finish.

Carbon fibre is everywhere on the exterior, from the low-set front splitter to the rising side skirts. The front grille also has a carbon insert designed to visually link the BR20 to other recent Ferrari one-offs like the Monza.

Stepping into the cabin is like stepping back in time. The seats are trimmed in a distinctive Heritage Testa di Moro brown leather, and the pattern of their inserts is unique. There’s also silver cross stitching and acres of carbon fibre trim to add some visual excitement.

Gone are the rear seats, making way for a leather-lined space for bags. Ferrari says axing the second row adds “extra dynamism to the BR20’s ultra-sleek fastback line”.

Ferrari hasn’t detailed what’s powering the BR20, but it’s safe to assume it’s the same V12 and all-wheel drive powertrain that featured in the GTC4Lusso.

Power in the range-topping version of the practical Ferrari GTC4Lusso came from a naturally-aspirated 6.3-litre V12 engine with 507kW of power and 697Nm of torque.

The BR20 will likely hit 100km/h in around 3.4 seconds, and top 330km/h flat out.
