A Toyota Camry driver in the US has found themselves caught between a wall and a hard place after driving onto a pedestrian bridge earlier this month.

The California Highway Patrol says the driver was heading southbound on US-101 in Larkspur, California on May 12 when they veered across the highway onto a narrow adjacent pedestrian walkway.

They continued following it until their Toyota sedan became wedged between the barriers at around 8am.

A picture shared by the California Highway Patrol shows the Camry stuck as traffic flows normally on the other side of the wall which poses the question, what was the driver thinking?

Perhaps they weren’t, as police confirmed the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the embarrassing detour.

The driver emerged from the damaged car unharmed, except for a bruised ego. They were, however, arrested.
