Aston Martin confirms new CEO

It’s official. Tobias Moers has stepped down after fewer than two years as Aston Martin CEO, to be replaced by ex-Ferrari CEO Amedeo Felisa.

Aston Martin says Mr Moers will step down with immediate effect, but will be involved in the transition to new leadership.

“Firstly, I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation for all that Tobias has achieved,” Aston Martin chairman Lawrence Stroll said in a statement.

“He joined Aston Martin at a critical time for the Company and brought significant discipline to its operations,” Mr Stroll said.

“The benefit of these actions is clear in the improved operating performance of the Company and in our great new product launches.”

Roberto Fedeli has been appointed Aston Martin chief technical officer, and will begin his tenure on June 1. He also has a Ferrari background, having led development of the LaFerrari hypercar.

“With the appointment of Roberto, we add another world class name to our team,” Mr Stroll said.

“He will help us deliver our future strategy, with a particular focus on technology advancements, and our in-house engineering capabilities, as we move towards electrification.”

CAR Magazinereports Mr Moers is standing down due to “strategic differences” with chairman Lawrence Stroll.

Mr Moers reportedly wants to establish a development base for Aston Martin in Germany, which is at odds with Mr Stroll’s plan to invest in a new northern Italy hub in a bid to inject a degree of Ferrari-style flair into the brand.
