2027 Mercedes-Benz GLS: Facelifted three-row SUV range priced for Australia, including AMG and Maybach versions

After revealing the final member of the updated GLS lineup yesterday, Mercedes-Benz has now released pricing for its three-row SUV lineup.

The Mercedes-Benz GLS is priced from $181,900 before on-road costs, with the hot AMG GLS63 S priced at $313,900 plus on-roads and the sumptuous Mercedes-Maybach GLS680 priced at $424,900 + ORCs.

Pre-orders are now open, with vehicles expected to arrive in Australia from November 2026 – apart from AMG and Maybach variants, which are expected in early 2027.

Customers who pre-order or buy a GLS450 or GLS450d before September 30, 2026 will receive a complimentary three-year service plan.

The turbocharged inline six-cylinder petrol GLS450 has returned to the lineup, after having been retired in Australia as part of a facelift for 2024.

All GLS SUVs feature a nine-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. They also all feature a 48V mild-hybrid system with an integrated starter generator, intended to reduce fuel consumption by allowing the vehicle to recuperate energy and coast with the engine off.

The GLS450 produces 280kW of power and 560Nm of torque from a 3.0-litre turbocharged petrol inline-six – up from 500Nm when it was last offered here – while the GLS450d uses a 3.0-litre turbo-diesel inline six with slightly less power (270kW) but more torque (750Nm). Both GLS variants feature standard Airmatic air suspension and 22-inch alloy wheels.

The AMG GLS63 S upgrades to 450kW/850Nm twin-turbo 4.0-litre petrol V8, and features standard 23-inch forged wheels and AMG Ride Control+ suspension, plus an electronic rear limited-slip differential.

The Maybach GLS680 features the same outputs, and features E-Active Body Control suspension and unique 23-inch forged wheels.

It replaces the GLS600, with outputs rising by 40kW and 80Nm to match the AMG GLS63 S which retains the same power and torque figures despite moving to the new M177 Evo V8 engine.

There's a raft of options available across the extended GLS lineup.

A Towbar Package is the only one available on all Benz, AMG and Maybach-badged vehicles, and for $3000 it brings trailer coupling and a braked towing capacity of 3500kg (750kg unbraked), with a 280kg downball.

The Plus Package ($6500; GLS450 and GLS450d) brings:

The Rear Comfort Package ($14,000; GLS450 and GLS450d) adds:

• MBUX High-End Rear Seat Entertainment System with two 11.6-inch displays, wireless headsets
• Rear Comfort Package Plus
• Multicontour second-row seats with heating, ventilation and massage
• Extended centre console
• Rear-seat MBUX control tablet
• Rear wireless phone chargers
• Rear sun-blinds
• Heated third-row seats
• Power-folding second- and third-row seats

The AMG Carbon-Fibre Package brings additional carbon-fibre interior trim, a carbon-fibre engine cover, and a carbon-fibre/microfibre steering wheel to the AMG GLS63 S for an additional $8500.

Standalone options include electric rear-door sun-blinds ($1400, all GLS variants bar the Maybach) and E-Active Body Control suspension ($13,500, GLS450d only).

The Maybach GLS is the priciest GLS, so it makes sense it has the priciest options.

A First Class Rear Package is available for $14,700, bringing two individual rear seats, a refrigerated compartment, and champagne flute holders with a set of flutes to put in them.

The Night Series package costs $37,500 and brings darkened trim inside and out, plus 23-inch forged black wheels, Black Flamed open-pore wood trim, and other dark-themed aesthetic enhancements.

This is the second facelift for the current, 2019-vintage GLS, following one that arrived here in 2024.

There’s a new, larger grille, with larger headlight clusters – incorporating the brand’s latest Digital Light LED technology – appearing to blend into it, plus a new front bumper, new wheel designs, and a new full-width light assembly at the rear.

The interior is arguably even more distinguished from before, with the MBUX Superscreen now standard. This incorporates a digital instrument cluster, infotainment touchscreen, and passenger display under one piece of glass; all screens measure 12.3 inches.
