2027 Mercedes-AMG GLC53 prices: Hot six-cylinder SUV replacing four-cylinder GLC43, GLC63 in Australia

The Mercedes-AMG GLC53 is now available to order in Australia, bringing an inline-six petrol engine to the second-generation GLC range for the first time – and taking the place of sporty four-cylinder AMG GLC variants.

Pricing for the GLC53 starts from $140,600 for the five-door SUV, while the "coupe" wears a $10,700 premium, with the less practical model kicking off from $151,300. All prices include GST and the Luxury Car Tax (LCT), but exclude on-road costs.

Vehicles are expected to arrive in local showrooms in September 2026.

Unlike the GLC43 and GLC63, both of which feature a turbocharged four-cylinder engine and have disappeared from the Mercedes-Benz Australia website, the GLC53 has a turbocharged 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder engine.

"There is a limited number of Mercedes-AMG GLC43 and GLC63 vehicles still available in Australia, which will continue to be offered alongside the new Mercedes-AMG GLC53 4MATIC+," said a Mercedes-Benz Australia spokesperson in a statement.

The GLC53's turbocharged six produces 330kW and 600Nm, with 640Nm available on overboost for 10 seconds.

It drives all four wheels via a nine-speed automatic transmission with a built-in 48V mild hybrid system that can provide a boost of 17kW and 205Nm for a short periods of time.

AMG claims the GLC53 can dispatch the 0-100km/h standard in 4.2 seconds. 

Standard features for Australia include the Real Performance Sound driver-adjustable exhaust flap, AMG exhaust and sound resonators, matte black 21-inch forged alloy wheels, a lip spoiler, dark tinted windows, and dark chrome badging and grille details.

The interior features heated leather sport seats with memory and four-way lumbar support, a sliding panoramic glass roof, head-up display, and a Burmester 3D surround sound system.

On top of this, Mercedes-Benz Australia is offering four additional equipment packages.

The $3700 AMG Dynamic Plus package brings an electronic locking rear differential, dynamic engine mounts, an AMG-branded fuel filler cap, red AMG brake calipers, and race and drift modes.

For those who desire a little more bling, the limited availability $6000 Golden Accents package includes Obisidian Metallic Black paint, and "techgold" badging, rim flanges and wheel caps. It also has black brake calipers, a silver chrome AMG fuel filler cap, gloss black front apron, larger front splitter, flics and spoiler lip, and a diffuser blade.

The $5800 Performance Ergonomic Package features an AMG Performance steering wheel finished with Nappa leather and microfibre, grippier front seats, and the Track Pace system for recording and analysing performance data. 

Lastly there's the $5500 Plus package that adds active steering assist and evasive steering assistance with bike, pedestrian and vehicle detection, augmented reality satellite navigation, and acoustic glass for a quieter cabin. 

The GLC63 S E Performance arrived here in 2024 featuring a 500kW/1020Nm turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder plug-in hybrid powertrain shared with the C63 S E Performance. These controversially replaced the old GLC63 and C63 which featured a twin-turbo V8.

The GLC43 also touched down in Australia in 2024, with a 310kW/500Nm turbo 2.0-litre four-cylinder mild-hybrid powertrain.
