2027 Geely Battleship 700 confirmed for Australia, pre-orders open for Monjaro SUV and Emgrand sedan

Geely Auto Australia has further detailed its PHEV-heavy product onslaught for 2027, with the 830kW Battleship 700 off-road SUV being the headline act.

Using this week's Everything Electric Show in Sydney as centre stage, the Chinese brand has confirmed its new flagship off-roader for local release in the second half of 2027, while the new plug-in hybrid Monjaro EM-i mid-size SUV and Emgrand L EM-i medium sedan are now available to pre-order.

Customers who place a $200 pre-order deposit on the Monjaro EM-i or Emgrand L EM-i before September 30 are eligible for a complimentary home charger and premium paint upgrade (valued at $600), while Monjaro customers also get a suede-like upholstery upgrade for the AWD variant.

Geely Monjaro EM-i – H1 2027

No, it's not the weight-loss drug. The 2027 Geely Monjaro EM-i was actually named after Africa's highest peak – Mount Kilimanjaro – and is a five-seat plug-in hybrid SUV that will sit above the Starray EM-i in the Chinese brand's local lineup.

Following a recent mid-life update, the Monjaro moves from the Geely-Volvo Compact Modular Architecture (CMA), shared with the Volvo EX40/EX40 and Polestar 2, to the Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture Evo (GEA Evo) platform.

GEA Evo underpins a range of Geely's more premium models, including the larger M9 SUV sold in China, as well as the new Smart #6 sedan revealed at this year's Beijing motor show.

The "performance-focused" platform features available Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD) suspension and a chassis tuned by Geely's Technology Europe division.

Confirmed details for the Australian market include a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder plug-in hybrid system, featuring dual electric motors and a battery pack "with up to 40kWh capacity", indicating an undisclosed number of battery variants will be offered.

Geely says the Monjaro EM-i will offer up to 170km (WLTP) of electric driving range from the 40kWh battery, with combined driving range listed at up to 1137km WLTP.

The Chinese brand says the Monjaro EM-i will be offered with 19- and 20-inch alloy wheel options, as well as the choice of front- or all-wheel drive depending on variant.

Inside, there's a 15.4-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 25.6-inch head-up display, with other confirmed available features including a surround-view parking camera, heated and ventilated front seats, and heated rear seats.

The Monjaro will also offer vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality as well as vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V), with up to 6.6kW output.

Geely has also confirmed several paint and interior options for Australia, including Sunlight Gold, Sky Blue, Night Black, Lunar Grey and Cloud White. A "selection of interior options" will also be offered, including an optional brown suede-like colourway.

Geely Emgrand L EM-i – H1 2027

Previously confirmed for Australia, the 2027 Geely Emgrand L EM-i will also arrive during the first half of next year and take the fight to the Toyota Camry and BYD Seal 6.

Effectively a sedan version of the popular Starray EM-i SUV, the Emgrand L is powered by a 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid system with an 18.4kWh battery pack, boasting 80km-plus of WLTP-certified electric range, and a 1000km-plus combined range.

Outputs for the hybrid system are said to be at least 180kW/250Nm – though for reference the Starray EM-i FWD quotes 193kW of system power.

While pre-orders for the Emgrand L are opening this weekend, further details around variants and specification are still to be announced.

However, the Chinese brand has confirmed five available exterior colours – Alpine White, Cloudveil Silver, Polar Black, Volcanic Grey and Glacier Blue. Inside, Australian customers will be able to choose from two options – including a "black and brown" option.

Geely Battleship 700 – H2 2027

Saving the best for last, the 2027 (or 2028) Geely Battleship 700 is the production version of the Galaxy Cruiser Prototype revealed in 2025.

Final specifications for the Australian market are still to be finalised, but the PHEV 4WD SUV has just gone on sale in overseas markets including China, with power coming from a 2.0-litre turbocharged PHEV system with 47kWh battery pack.

It appears some of the headline figures from the Galaxy Cruiser have made it to the production model, including a massive 830kW from its tri-motor AWD system fed by the aforementioned 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor and 47kWh battery.

Geely says the Battleship 700 offers up to 170km of electric range, as well as 233mm of standard ground clearance and a quoted wading depth of 800mm. Air suspension is available on global models, and no doubt should be on the cards for Australia.

Inside, the Battleship 700 features a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster as well as a 15.6-inch touchscreen, a heated and cooled centre console compartment, and a 23-speaker premium sound system.

Further, there's a 'Waltz U-Turn' function which "provides on-the-spot maneuverability", similar to the crab walk and tank turn functions offered by other vehicles.

Geely says full Australian specifications will be confirmed "closer to its launch in the latter half of 2027".
