The 2026 MG 4 EV Urban has just landed in Australia, and the Chinese brand has finally confirmed pricing for the Long Range Essence 54 model, which commands a $3000 premium over the Essence 43 price leader.
On sale now from $34,990 drive-away, the MG 4 EV Urban Essence 54 largely carries over the Essence 43's spec sheet, but gets a larger 54kWh lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack and a marginally more powerful electric motor on the front axle.
As a result, the Essence 54 quotes 118kW/250Nm outputs, and a WLTP-certified driving range of 405km – 89km more than the Essence 43. The power bump brings a slight improvement to the claimed 0-100km/h time despite a 60kg kerb weight disadvantage, rated at 8.7 seconds versus 9.0 seconds for the Essence 43.
