The tamest Mercedes-AMG GT yet has launched in Australia, but so has arguably the hottest.
The new GT43 is the first Mercedes-AMG GT to come with a four-cylinder engine and the only member of the current-generation lineup to feature rear-wheel drive, with the twin-turbo V8-powered GT63 and GT63 Pro being all-wheel drive.
The latter is new for 2026, too, with an uprated version of the carryover GT63’s twin-turbo V8.
Orders are now open for the extended Mercedes-AMG GT lineup.

The GT43 uses a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder petrol engine producing 310kW of power and 500Nm of torque, mated with a nine-speed auto.
As in a range of other Mercedes-AMG models including the A45, CLA45, C43 and GLC43, it employs an electric exhaust gas turbocharger, adapted from Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 technology, that’s intended to aid responsiveness. The GT43 also features a 48-volt mild-hybrid system that can briefly deliver up to 10kW of power.
The new entry-level AMG GT is distinguished from others by its narrower front and rear fenders, redesigned front apron, and round twin exhaust outlets.

Mercedes-Benz says the GT43 is focused on lightweight agility, thanks in large part to its rear-wheel drive layout, while the new hardcore GT63 Pro is designed for “enthusiasts seeking ultimate capability on road and circuit”.
Its uprated twin-turbo 4.0-litre V8 produces 20kW and 50Nm more than in the regular GT63, for total outputs of 450kW and 850Nm, though the 0-100km/h sprint time is unchanged at 3.2 seconds.
However, it’s 0.5 seconds faster in the 0-200km/h sprint, taking just 10.9 seconds.

It’s distinguished from the regular GT63 by a new front apron with carbon-fibre air deflectors, as well as a fixed rear wing.
To ensure cooling and airflow during intense use, there’s additional ventilation in the wheel-arches, as well as reinforced high- and low-temperature cooling circuits, water pumps in the top-mounted radiators, and additional underbody air deflectors.
