2026 Mazda CX-70 and CX-90: Prices slashed for large SUV duo

Mazda has treated its range of Large Architecture-based SUVs to various updates, with the two largest members of this family now up to $8051 cheaper.

The Mazda CX-70 and CX-90 have received price cuts across their respective model ranges, unlike the ‘narrow-body’ CX-60 and CX-80 which have received a mix of price increases and decreases. All four updated SUVs are available at Mazda's Australian dealerships now.

The CX-70 and CX-90 are wider platform-mates to the CX-60 and CX-80, developed with the North American market in mind, with the CX-70 featuring a five-seat layout and the CX-90 adding a third row of seating.

Apart from price cuts of between $3700 and $8051, the CX-70 is unchanged. Petrol and diesel variants are now priced identically, where previously opting for diesel attracted a $2000 premium.

The CX-70 range opens at $73,020 before on-road costs for the base GT trim and tops out at $83,520 plus on-roads for the Azami SP ($84,333 + ORCs with Luxury Car Tax).

The CX-90 has also moved to a one-price strategy for petrol and diesel variants, and has received price cuts of between $3200 and $7401.

Its lineup starts at $66,100 plus on-roads for the entry-level Touring trim, and tops out at $87,100 plus on-roads for the Azami Takumi and Azami SP trims ($88,987 + ORCs including LCT).

But beyond these pricing adjustments, Mazda’s flagship SUV has also received various specification tweaks including the addition of connectivity and safety technology already offered on the CX-70.

The CX-90 now features standard front cross-traffic assist and Cruising Traffic Support (CTS) with Driver Emergency Assist.

CTS is a Level 2 autonomous driving feature combining adaptive cruise control and lane centring, while Driver Emergency Assist can bring the vehicle safely to a halt if it detects the driver has become incapacitated.

The CX-90 also gains Mazda Connected Services, first introduced in Australia in 2024, which brings functionality like an emergency SOS button and the ability to control the locks, lights and other vehicle functions remotely using the MyMazda smartphone app.

The mid-spec CX-90 GT features a Sports Appearance Package as standard, which ditches chrome exterior trim for black – aligning the vehicle more closely with the five-seat CX-70.

There are black mirror caps, window moulding and roof rails, among other items, while the CX-90 GT features 21-inch black alloy wheels.

One final change for the CX-90 is the deletion of Sonic Silver Metallic, replaced on the palette by Polymetal Grey Metallic.

The CX-70 and CX-90 are Mazda’s lowest-volume SUVs in Australia, which is perhaps unsurprising given they have the highest base prices of any of the Japanese brand’s models.

To the end of June, Mazda Australia has delivered 309 CX-90s and just 132 CX-70s this year, against 2699 CX-60s and 1457 CX-80s.

In 2024, Mazda Australia said it expected to sell 6600 CX-60s, 720 CX-70s, 7800 CX-80s, and 1200 CX-90s each year.

Last year, it managed to shift 5410 CX-60s, 379 CX-70s, 3851 CX-80s and 715 CX-90s.
