The electric sibling to the Mercedes-Benz C-Class is one step closer to its unveiling, with the upcoming Tesla Model 3-rivalling EQC Sedan spied winter testing in Sweden.

Joining the Mercedes-Benz ‘EQ’ family of electric vehicles (EVs), the EQC Sedan will be the brand’s first battery-powered take on the C-Class, though it won’t directly replace the long-standing nameplate.

Instead it will be sold alongside the petrol and diesel-powered C-Class, and will take aim at the popular Tesla Model 3 and BMW’s upcoming 3 Series-sized electric sedan – the latter of which will be based on a new, dedicated EV platform.

Despite being heavily camouflaged, these spy photos show the Mercedes-Benz EQC Sedan’s design will be closer to the C-Class than the electric counterparts to the E-Class (EQE) and S-Class (EQS).

It features a flatter bonnet, a less steeply raked windscreen and a slightly longer rear overhang than the controversial EQE and EQS.

Interior photos of the EQC Sedan aren’t revealing either, though it appears the electric model will adopt a new-look steering wheel – with a more traditional design compared to most Mercedes-Benz cars currently on sale – while a larger infotainment screen also features.

The EQC Sedan is expected to be one of a handful of models to be based on the MB.EA EV platform, though official details such as battery capacities, electric motor power outputs and sizes have not yet been announced.

While the first MB.EA models are due to go into production from 2025, it’s not yet clear when the EQC Sedan will make its debut.
