Interested in a Cupra Leon?

    Cupra has increased Leon pricing by up to $1700, and added DAB+ radio to the spec sheet to help offset it.

    Pricing now starts at $49,190 drive-away for the Leon V and extends to $67,690 drive-away for the Western Australian customers purchasing the VZe.

    The VZe plug-in hybrid now has an optional Leather and Sound package, which adds a nine-speaker Beats sound system to the outgoing Leather package.

    Orders for the adjusted MY24 Cupra range will be “available shortly” for delivery late in the third quarter of 2023.

    While the updated range will be available to order soon, Cupra has confirmed “significant MY23 stock at pre-adjusted pricing continues to arrive into the network”.

    Drivetrains

    Each of the four Cupra Leon variants has a different powertrain.

    The base V is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 140kW of power and 320Nm of torque. This is mated with a seven-speed wet dual-clutch transmission.

    The VZ also uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine and a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, but its engine produces 180kW and 370Nm.

    The VZe mates a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with an electric motor, for total system outputs of 180kW and 400Nm. It uses a six-speed wet dual-clutch transmission, and has a 12.8kWh lithium-ion battery.

    The VZx is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 221kW of power and 400Nm of torque.

    All models are front-wheel drive.

    Efficiency

    The 2023 Cupra Leon has the following claimed combined fuel economy figures:

    • Leon V: 6.2L/100km
    • Leon VZ: 6.7L/100km
    • Leon VZe: 1.8L/100km
    • Leon VZx: 6.8L/100km

    All Leon models require a minimum of 95 RON premium unleaded petrol except for the flagship VZx which requires 98 RON premium unleaded.

    The Leon VZe is good for up to 67km of electric range. Cupra provides customers with a Mode 2 and Mode 3 cable for charging.

    Dimensions

    The 2024 Cupra Leon V, VZ, and VZx measure 4398mm long, 1799mm wide and 1444mm tall, with a 2689mm wheelbase.

    The 2024 Cupra VZe measures 4398mm long, 1799mm wide and 1467mm tall, with a 2682mm wheelbase.

    Boot space varies based on which model you choose. The VZe has just 270 litres because of the battery hardware, while the VZ and VZx up that to 380L.

    The second row of seats can be folded with a 60:40 split. The middle seat includes a ski port.

    Servicing and Warranty

    The 2024 Cupra Leon is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

    Maintenance is required every 12 months or 15,000 kilometres.

    The brand no longer offers three years of free servicing, instead buyers can choose from three- and five-year service packs. The three-year pack is priced at $990, while the five-year pack is $1990.

    Cupra offers its customers the option of a Service Pack prior to their first scheduled service.

    Safety

    The Cupra Leon has a five-star safety rating from ANCAP, which is based on Euro NCAP testing conducted on the SEAT Leon in 2020.

    It received an adult occupant protection rating of 91 per cent, a child occupant protection rating of 88 per cent, a vulnerable road user protection rating of 71 per cent, and a safety assist rating of 80 per cent.

    Standard safety equipment across the Leon range includes:

    Exclusive to the VZx is the option of matte paint for $2400 (+$100), available in either Petrol Blue or Magnetic Tech.
