Volkswagen has revealed the pricing and standard specification of its updated T-Roc before it hits local showrooms in August.

The 2023 Volkswagen T-Roc range still kicks off with the Style, which now costs $37,250 before on-road costs. This is $1750 more than the pre-update version.

Replacing the Sport is the R-Line, which is priced at $45,250 before on-road costs. This is $2550 more expensive than the outgoing Sport, although the car also comes better equipped than before.

As previously detailed, the high-performance T-Roc R is also hitting local showrooms in August, and will cost $59,300 before on-road costs. Like the Style, it’s also more generously equipped than before.

This makes it a new entry point to Volkswagen’s growing R range, slotting in beneath the Golf R and the bigger Tiguan R.

Outside, the updated T-Roc has been given a refreshed front fascia with new standard features like privacy glass available across the range.

Inside, there’s a soft-touch dashboard with new features such as a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit Pro, wireless phone charger and paddle shifters across the range.

The updated T-Roc also gains a range of new safety features, including the Travel Assist of highway driving assists.

  • 2023 Volkswagen T-Roc Style: $37,250 (+$1750)
  • 2023 Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line: $45,250 (+$2550)

Engines

Powering the entry-level T-Roc Style is a 1.4-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 110kW of power and 250Nm of torque.

This is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission with drive sent to the front wheels only.

The T-Roc R-Line uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 140kW and 320Nm. This is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with drive sent through a 4Motion all-wheel drive system.

The high-performance T-Roc R is powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine producing 221kW and 400Nm. This is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission, with drive sent through a 4Motion all-wheel drive system.

Volkswagen claims the T-Roc R can do the 0-100km/h sprint in 4.9 seconds, which is 0.2 seconds faster than the larger Tiguan R and one-tenth slower than the Golf R hatch.

Fuel Economy

The 2022 Volkswagen T-Roc has the following claimed fuel economy figures:

  • T-Roc Style: 6.3L/100km
  • T-Roc R-Line: 7.3L/100km
  • T-Roc R: 8.3L/100km

Dimensions

Final dimensions or cargo capacities for the updated T-Roc range haven’t been published, but it’s likely the measurements will remain identical to the pre-update car.

The pre-update model measures 4246mm long, 1572mm tall, and 1819mm wide, with a 2595mm wheelbase.

Cargo volume with the rear seats upright in the pre-update 110TSI Style was 445 litres, dropping to and 392 litres in the 140TSI Sport. Folding the rear seats expands those figures to 1290L and 1237L respectively.

Servicing and Warranty

The 2023 Volkswagen T-Roc, like all new Volkswagen vehicles, is covered by a five-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty.

Volkswagen hasn’t detailed service care plans yet for the updated T-Roc, but the pre-update version was available with either a three- or five-year plan.

In the 110TSI Style these packages previously cost $1200 and $1900 respectively, while in the 140TSI Sport they cost $1400 and $2300.

Safety
