Own a Jaguar with the Pivi Pro infotainment system? You’re about to get Amazon’s Alexa smart assistant in your car.

Starting with the electric I-Pace SUV, which is available now, all Jaguar models with Pivi Pro will be sold with Alexa built-in.

It’ll also be part of an over-the-air update for existing owners with compatible cars.

The system allows drivers to use natural voice prompts – Alexa, navigate home – to control the navigation and media. It also syncs up with an owner’s Amazon account to give access to things like shopping lists and calendars.

Anyone with a smart home (things like internet-connected lights, garage door openers, and even fridges) can control those functions remotely.

“Customers around the world interact with Alexa billions of times each week, making life easier, more productive, and more fun,” said Christian Mentz, head of Alexa Automotive International.

“We’re excited to deliver that same delightful, convenient experience to Jaguar customers – and because Alexa is always getting smarter, new features and capabilities will be added over time and delivered to their vehicles automatically.”

Jaguar isn’t alone in rolling out Alexa to its new cars. Ford allows owners to access the Amazon assistant through an app in its Sync 4 infotainment system, while Audi, BMW, and Lexus offer inbuilt Alexa in some parts of the world.

Amazon also offers the Echo Auto, which plugs into your car and performs the same function.
